Christmas Aftermath Bullet Blog

  • This blog is being brought to you by the staccato thoughts in my head.
  • Try to follow along, and if you're lucky, it'll all make sense.
  • 300 test strips do not last an entire month!
  • I need to stock up, but they are so expensive.
  • Christmas was uneventful this year.
  • Kinda happy to see it come to an end.
  • My heart just wasn't in it no matter how hard I tried.
  • Would any D Moms or D rents care to share how the diagnosis of D affected your relationship/marriage, if at all?
  • Going through some difficult times. Email me privately if you'd like.
  • Jaxson sees his Endo tomorrow morning.
  • Praying for a decent a1c.
  • Last one was real good... 5.1.
  • A fluke I'm sure.
  • They're just haven't been any consistent patterns in his bg journal lately.
  • Making adjustments to ratios and correction factor is challenging.
  • The D Christmas card exchange brightened my holiday!
  • If you sent me a card, it's on display in our living room.
  • My entire family enjoyed them so much!
  • Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
  • I'm SO far behind on reading your blogs DOC!
  • Kiddo's are back in school tomorrow.
  • I have hopes to play catch-up starting on Tuesday.
  • That's about all I have now.
  • Thoughts are beginning to sputter so I better stop.
  • Hope you all had a wonderful New Year!

  1. Deanna...can you have your Endo order more strips? They can even write a letter to your insurance company stating the need if you need more...let's face it, with lows, highs, activity, and "error 5's" there aren't enough strips. Good luck!

Also, yes..."d" affects everyone in the family and definitely causes new relationshipe strains...and hopefully, ultimately "growth" through the challenges. Resentment? sure... You doing more of the care? me too... Worry weighs on your mind, but not as much his? absolutely. These are just a few of many things that I have struggled with in my relationship with Dave since Joe's diagnosis. We are the stronger for enduring them, but they are real issues and it is hard. I think it is the "never-ending-ness" of the care that starts to really wear us all down.

Love to you and Happy New Year!

  3. Marriage is hard without raising a child with diabetes. WITH D, it adds an entirely new layer.

I feel like my husband and I have to wake up EVERY day planning to be intentional about our life together. EVERY DAY I have to remind myself to carve out time for him. EVERY DAY he has to remind himself to kiss me hello when he walks in the door before asking about her numbers. It's been this way for almost 6 years. One day at a time...and a lot of prayer!

I'll pray for your marriage, my friend.

Keep up the great work and let us know how you're doing!!!
